Sherborne is a 50ft trad-stern narrowboat, built in 1978 with many design features of the traditional workboats. She has a mid engine layout, with a beautiful boatman's cabin, and powered by a 1960’s Lister air cooled twin cylinder engine. She was replated in 2017, and had her top sides completely rebuilt in plywood over oak frame with glass fiber and epoxy sheathing. The rebuild was carried out by her previous owner who was a professional carpenter. Last blacked August 2022, when a full set of new anodes were fitted. Well insulted and has served me as a great liveaboard over the past 4 years in London. Two standard leisure batteries and one engine battery. 100w solar panel and 20A charge controller. 800w modified sinewave inverter. Gas instant hot water heater. Compost toilet, with an old cassette toilet also on board. Two mixed fuel stoves, including a beautiful Epping stove with hotplate and oven in the boatman's cabin. Room for improvements to be made inside, such as the unfinished undercounter spaces in the kitchen, and the water tank in the bow which still needs an outside inlet plumbed to it (currently to fill it a hose needs to be run through the door and directly into it.) Recent ‘Boat Safety Certificate’ issued October 2025, valid until 18/10/2029. Last survey conducted in July 2017 (prior to replating).
