Description

Tallis narrowboat is a cosy, comfortable 44ft narrowboat, with a practical cruiser-stern arrangement, currently located on the River Thames in central Oxford, for sale without mooring and available from June, supplied with four years Boat Safety Certfication. She provides a fantastic space and affordable home as a liveaboard for a couple, or as a leisure cruiser, with a reliable Lister SR2 engine. Tallis was built in the early 1980s but was fully refitted in 2022. She was overplated and epoxied in 2009, described as "to a very high standard" in survey. Well maintained throughout our 18 year ownership, this has included full external repaint last year, regular out of water surveys and blacking. Recent surveys have identified no issues with her steelwork. Blacking consists of epoxy base coat, which when last surveyed in 2022 had no issues identified, however this was over-coated with regular blacking that same year. Unlike many boats of this age, she has been fully spray-foam insulated throughout to make for warm and cosy living all year round, without the condensation problems that can be common without. A recently-serviced Morso Squirrel multi-fuel stove located centrally provides ample and affordable heating, and is a focal point in the boat. Suitable for off-grid cruising, she has reliable and efficient LPG gas water heating. Lighting, water and shower pumps are all 12volts and run direct from the batteries. There is a 1,000w inverter to provide 240v power from the four leisure batteries, and around 400w in solar panels and an MPPT solar charger. With a shoreline connection for 240v mains power hook-up, ample sockets (with USB) throughout, inbuilt battery charger/12v power supply she works equally well when on a mooring with power. Plumbing, gas and electrical systems were renewed to modern standards and the boat is supplied furnished, although furniture items can also be easily removed. The Lister SR2 engine is renowned for its reliability, ease of maintenance, and efficiency with diesel. The engine bay and forward lockers and bow gas bottle locker have recently been fully cleaned and received multiple coats of Jotamstic epoxy paint for a very resilient finish. Layout from the stern: A built-on rear bicycle rack, which is excellent for carrying two bicycles or a motorbike. The cruiser-stern arrangement allows for a sociable cruising, and is supplied with a pram-hood style canopy, and a second smaller cover which can be used without the hoops. The open plan saloon has a fold out table and a sofa providing a single bed with storage beneath There is a fitted kitchen with an large capacity LPG double-oven/hob The shower and toilet, on opposite sides of the boat, combine into a single room for privacy. The bedroom provides a super-king full width bed, which can be folded to create two sofas with a four-person table between Throughout the boat there is large amount of practical storage, both inbuilt and from the supplied free-standing furniture which has been built to fit the space The bow area has two lockers and comes with a cratch-board and canopy Equipment: X 4 110amp/hr lead acid leisure batteries Stirling Power 1,000w inverter Stirling Power ProDigital battery charger/12v power supply EpEver MPPT solar controller Morco 61B LPG gas water heater 240v fridge with 4 star freezer box LPG gas oven/hob Zanussi compact washing machine (240v) if required but can be removed if not Stainless (maintenance free) water tanks Sold fully furnished as seen in photos (spice racks, shelving, curtains, etc) - providing a ready to go, liveable space if required Arranged for 2nd June is a renewal of the full Boat Safety Scheme Certification valid for four years from that date. If required and at buyer cost, a full out of water pre-purchase survey has been arranged for 2nd June by Tom Keeling of Small Craft Services to be undertaken at Oxford Cruisers boatyard OX29 4DA. This has been arranged due to the challenge in obtaining slip-way and surveyor availability.
