Sloe Gin Palace, or ‘Ginnie’ as we call her, would make an excellent home for a single person or couple, and is fully equipped for life as a liveaboard continuous cruiser, liveaboard on a mooring, or as a pleasure boat for weekends and holidays. She is currently based with us here on the Kennet and Avon canal in the Bath area. Ginnie has a double bed and a dinette seat which can be turned into a second double bed, so can comfortably accommodate four people aboard on occasion. Both the fore and aft of the vessel have space for several people to sit or stand during cruises. She has a Morso Squirrel multifuel stove which keeps you toasty warm all winter, and three radiators powered by a Webasto diesel heater which can be set to come on before you wake up. Two large 385 watt solar panels on the roof with adjustable mountings provide the majority of the electrical power, but the three 100Ah lithium-ion batteries can be topped up by the dual alternators on the 35hp Isuzu Marine diesel engine. 240V power is supplied the Victron 1200watt inverter or shore hookup to multiple house sockets throughout the boat. The Boat Safety Scheme checks were recently carried out by an experienced examiner, and none of the systems checked (heating, fuel, electrical) have been changed or updated since, so you can be confident that she is safe and there are no nasty surprises. The BSS certificate is valid until 2030. Layout: the front door opens into the ‘sitting room’ area, with an L-shaped dinette (storage underneath), table, stove, two fold-up chairs and cupboard space. Moving down the boat is the U-shaped kitchen with plenty of storage, a gas oven, a 12V under-counter fridge-freezer, under-cupboard downlights, and the side hatch. Next is the corridor containing a tall cupboard, and door to the bathroom which contains a full length mirror, Thetford cassette toilet, sink with cupboard, and shower. Finally, the bedroom is at the back, with a built-in double bed, overhead cupboards and reading lights, two wardrobes, airing cupboard, and storage beneath the stairs which lead out the back. Outside, Ginnie has tidy Oxford blue paintwork and smart black wooden seat/engine covers (new April 2026). Inside, she has a clean & tidy aesthetic, with laminate ‘wood’ flooring and varnished wood walls throughout – a ‘blank slate’ on which you could lay your own mark.
