LONDON APPRENTICE – BRIEF DETAILS Sabre 27 twin-keeled GRP sailing cruiser with some unusual equipment, which has been in present ownership since 1986. In that year she was converted to outboard power and she has davits with a tender that can be partly collapsed to reduce its size when on passage. Currently ashore.. Launched 1971 and extensively refitted in 1987. Part 1 registration. LOA 27 ft (8.2m), Beam 9ft (2.7m), Draught 3ft (0.9m). Displacement 6800lb. (3084kg). Round-the-boom roller reefing on the main and headsail roller gear for the jib. Mainsail (new 2012), headsail (new 2022) and cruising chute. Two 10kg Delta anchors with 50m of chain. ‘Anchorman’ manual windlass. Three-frame spray hood, usual deck gear and portable boarding ladder. Aluminium-framed windows with toughened glass and renewed in 2000. MOTOR Yamaha 9.9HP four-stoke long shaft (new in 2019 and professionally serviced every year), with a dual-thrust prop, mounted on a slider board. In calm conditions, with a clean bottom, max speed is a shade over 6 knots and consumption is slightly over 1 litre per hour at 4 knots. COCKPIT Teak cockpit grating, teak-slatted bench covers and folding cockpit table. Two Lewmar bottom-action sheet winches. Lifebuoy. Raymarine Tiller Pilot. Drop-down stainless-steel ladder that can be operated by a person in the water. Davit frame for launching tender. Opening ‘gate’ at stern to allow motor to be raised & lowered. Cockpit lockers hold a stainless steel 45-litre fuel tank plus a 12-litre running tank which feeds the motor, also gas bottles, bilge pump and fenders, warps etc. ELECTRICS Battery compartment for two 75AH leisure batteries, with one battery currently installed, charged from three 10W solar panels. The boat has not needed any other charging arrangements. Nav lights: bow, stern, steaming and tricolour. Interior lights and chart light plus various 12v sockets. INSTRUMENTS ETC VDO Sumlog (with two spare cables). ‘Bosun’ grid compass (plus spare). Hand-bearing compass. NASA Stingray echo sounder (plus spare unit). Standard Horizon HX851 portable VHF (with GPS functions). Radio cassette player. INTERIOR Designed with six possible berths: fore cabin double, two quarter berths and settee berth which can be widened to a double. Bunk cushions have soft fabric on exposed surfaces. The port quarter berth also serves as a chartwork space, with a slide-away chart table. Most interior linings have been replaced. Saloon table stows in ‘slot locker’ under cockpit. Hanging locker with shoe stowage. Heads compartment: Jabsco WC unit with a 30-litre holding tank and a swing-down hand basin. Two bronze seacocks. Galley: ‘Neptune’ cooker with two burners and grill, plus sink with fresh water pump. Oiil lamp with 25mm wick. Clock and barometer. Fire blanket and two fire extinguishers. 135 litre Seaflex fresh water tank. Electric bilge pump. OTHER EQUIPMENT & FITTINGS Radar reflector. Three safety harnesses. Coastal flare pack. GENERAL INVENTORY Cutlery, crockery and utensils will be available, free of charge to a successful purchaser. DINGHY The dinghy is designed for the yacht and has been used for 24 years. It has a plywood lower hull with buoyancy tanks and canvas topsides. When in use, with the laminated gunwale raised, the dinghy is 2.3m long x 0.45m deep. When folded for stowage, the dimensions reduce to 2.0m long x 0.25m deep. RECENT CRUISING HISTORY During the last 25 years this boat has cruised twice around Britain, once around Ireland and four times around Brittany (via sea and canals), with other excursions to explore cruising grounds such as the East Coast, the Celtic Sea, the Charente Region and the Outer Hebrides.
