Baltic is a quirky boat. BSS Safety Certificate valid to 12/05/2029 : Hull blacking & new anodes fitted November 2025 : New batteries 2026 N/B BALTIC is a 36 foot traditional replica tug built by Equinox Boatbuilders in 2000 with a steel hull and main cabin area and a small wooden fore-cabin and sizeable saloon. The latter is covered in canvas to give the appearance of the clothed-up hold of a commercial vessel. The aft cabin is fitted-out as a boatman’s cabin. The engine is mounted in a central Engine Room and is a single cylinder Kingfisher KD12 diesel with an electric or hand-cranked start. Throttle and gear shift are operated by rod linkage from the Stern Deck. Electrics are both 12 volt (two domestic and one starter) and by 230V mains hook-up. A plastic water tank in the bow supplies the galley sink and bathroom basin and shower. A portable water container supplies drinking water to the galley sink via a foot-operated pump. Bathroom also has a shower tray which can be enclosed by a curtain, and a chemical toilet. The boat is gasless. Water is heated by the engine with a calorimeter. Cooking is by microwave oven. Crockery and cutlery included. The main cabin has steel double doors to starboard in the galley, steel double doors to port in the engine room with a hinged steel hatch over and a central steel roof hatch. The boatman’s cabin has steel double doors and a slide hatch. The Boatman’s cabin has a single bunk which can be converted into a double either lengthwise or crosswise. The saloon has two single bunks which can be converted into an almost king-size bed across the full width of the cabin. A Danforth pattern anchor with chain, new mooring lines, hooks and chains and some engine spare parts are included in the inventory. EXPANDED DESCRIPTION Baltic is a traditional style leisure motor narrowboat, having a welded steel hull. The superstructure comprises a small wooden fore-cabin, a central section in wood, covered in canvas to give the appearance of the clothed-up hold of a commercial craft, and a main steel aft cabin. The hull is a year 2000 build by Equinox Boatbuilders. Length overall is 36 feet, beam 6 ft 10 in, draught approximately 1 ft 9 in at the bow and 2 ft at the stern under the rudder skeg. The hull is a welded fabrication of mild steel plates with internal ribs and stringers, mainly in steel angle, for stiffening and local strengthening. The hull exterior is protected by continuously welded longitudinal guard in 2” steel. The small half-height fore-cabin is of plywood over wood framing. The central ‘clothed’ section is of ply over wood framing and a central top plank and is covered in canvas sheets overlapped just above the gunwales and retained by rubber straps and cord. The canvas has a strap-down flap covering fixed Perspex windows on both sides with pull-down blinds inside.
