Description
Alan Buchanan East Anglian sloop, sail No. 386Y. This Buchanan East Anglian Sloop was bought four years ago and worked on by the current owner. She's been upgraded from a day sailor to a weekend sailor with additional comforts such as running water, heads, gas and upgraded electronics. She is a beautiful example of the last wooden boats built in England before fibreglass came into fashion. She's being sold with the wish to upgrade to larger boat to be more family friendly. Built in 1962 by Dixon Kerly Ltd of Maldon, Essex. Bought by the current owner in 2022, she's been sailed around the South West coast and had much work done to her. She's had all her electronics upgraded to have safer wiring standards, solar charging installed to power the now two household batteries. A victron battery monitor with a bluetooth option for phone monitoring. Water pump installed for running water, a Baby Blake heads installed to maintain that classic yacht feel and offer relief when offshore. A shore charger was installed to allow charging alongside, but the 100W solar panel has sufficient when taken on long journeys. She's been lifted every Winter with the current owner, anti-fouled yearly and repainted to keep her looking fresh. When she was bought she had an updated Selden rig and some brand new sails. A recent refit of her external woodwork in 2021 including all external paint and varnish and a rebuilt cockpit, complete engine service, new batteries and new bilge pump. It is clear that in the not too distant past she has had a lot of money spent on her with a new deck, toe rails and rubbing strake. A comfortable and easy to handle cruising boat, perfect for single handed sailing or for a couple to explore over a weekend or more.
