"Scilly Bee" is a fin keel Corribee Mk2 I bought in June 2021 thinking she would be a quick project to allow me and the kids to get back on the water after I sold my previous offshore race boat in 2019 – however this turned into a major / extensive restoration through the summer of 2023 into 2024 which left no part of the boat untouched with the aim of creating a robust / reliable cruising boat. All work was done to a very high standard with no expense spared (code for “I got carried away”) as I planned to keep Scilly Bee and allow my late teen kids to take her off cruising the Solent and beyond. However, the itch to compete in the 2025 Fastnet with my 18yr daughter led to the purchase of a J105 in 2024. So, Scilly Bee was finally re-launched in April 2024 after the restoration described below. She has had a few trips out, was prepped for the 2024 Round the Island race (we didn’t go due to the appalling forecast) and has been used a few times in 2025 but is essentially in the same condition as when she was re-launched following the restoration. Restoration Extensive restoration completed in 2023/2024 as follows: Mast beam and plywood pad supporting the mast replaced with a new beam laminated from marine ply and glassed in with several layers of bi-axial glass cloth resulting in a much stronger assembly than the original. Some stanchion bases repaired / strengthened. Genoa tracks removed and re-sealed + other deck fittings removed and re-sealed as required to ensure hull is watertight (now stayed exceptionally dry inside). New mushroom vents installed. Interior stripped, sanded back and painted with white Hempel Multicoat (including inside all compartments). Washboards. Tiller and interior hatches stripped and varnished. New plywood pad for outboard bracket fabricated from marine ply and varnished. Front hatch replaced with a Vetus Planus deck hatch type 4040. Rubbing strakes replaced with black rubber / plastic rubbing strakes. New bilge pump installed with bespoke strum box and new hoses and fittings to exit at transom. Antifoul sanded back and fresh antifoul applied. All electrics stripped out, new cabling installed throughout and the following installed: • New STANDARD HORIZON ECLIPSE GX1300E VHF radio • New NASA Marine Clipper Duet – depth & speed instrument and transducers • New NASA Combi Tri and Anchor LED mastlight • New LED bi-colour bow light • New cabling in mast • New VHF antenna • New deck cable seals for mast cables • New LED interior light • New switch panel New Plastimo Mini Contest compass installed. All halyards, topping lift, reef lines, genoa sheets, spinnaker sheets and tweakers replaced new. New cap shrouds installed. New cascade backstay tensioning system installed. New bespoke spinnaker pole. Rig tuned with tension gauge. Mast refurbished – new VHF antenna, new windex, some fixings and blocks replaced. Sails All old but in serviceable condition (I have tested them all): • #1 Genoa • #2 Genoa • #3 Jib • Main with 2 reefs • Spinnaker Safety equipment (all new 2024) • 2 x Fire extinguishers • First aid kit • Horseshoe life buoy & light Other equipment Anchor with long length of chain in bow locker Engine No engine is included in the sale, but a brand new (2025) 4hp Long Shaft Mercury Four Stroke which can be connected to charge the battery and has circa 4hrs use and with full warrantee is available by separate negotiation.
