Description
Very good condition. MECHANICAL New Tohatsu 10hp 4 stroke electric start longshaft outboard for 2024 season, with new fuel tank and fuel lines, and a new "motorloc" for security. New Bosch battery 2025, 60 aH. Photoelectric panel on hatch garage keeps battery topped up via a solar charge controller. SAILS AND RIGGING New Dyneema halyards 2024 for mainsail, jib and screecher. The jib and screecher halyards are tapered Dyneema. The main halyard is not tapered, to allow cleating at different points when reefed. All sails in good condition, serviced by "Sail Shape of Lostwithiel " for 2024. Mainsail, fully batten, radial cut carbon fibre laminate, with continuous ball race cars, Dolphin sails. Jib, radial cut aramid laminate, with UV strip, Mouse sails. On roller furling gear. Screecher/ code zero, on roller furler, radial cut aramid laminate, Mouse sails. A total of 5 Harken 2 speed winches , all serviced 2024. 2 winches (2 speed) on the cockpit coamings handel the screecher sheets. 3 self tailing (2 speed) winches, along with a bank of rope clutches, are located on the coach roof by the companion way port and starboard. These handle the halyards, jib sheets, reefing lines, centerboard, vang, and jib roller furling line. This is great for safety, as all sail controls including the single line reefing can be done from the cockpit. New Stainless Steel standing rigging 2016. 4: 1 Dyneema rudder downhaul, 2024. Aluminium mast and boom in good order. Selden Gas strut vang. EXTERIOR New masthad LED anchor light 2024, and all navigation lights upgraded to LED 2024. All new round inspection hatch covers on floats 2024. New trampolines and forward saftey nets fitted 2024. New fixed bowsprit fitted 2024, that provides anchor roller and stowage, as well as taking the tack of the screecher. New 50m anchorplait anchor rode and 6m chin, all marked at 10m intervals, 2023. Antifouling in good order, 3 coats of International Micron spring of 2025, including lifting the boat off her trailer so applied underneath the hull and to her centreboard. INTERIOR Full standing headroom. New all LED cabin lights, 2024 New toilet 2025. New upholstery on all bunk cushions 2024. Bunk cushions are 4inch foam, with a softer hollowfill fibre top, and are very comfortable. New slide out raised floor for the main settee area of the cabin, so your feet are supported when sitting on the main settees. This floor slides away under the cockpit when not in use, where it can be used as an extra berth if needed. New white painted cabin top in the main cabin, the carpet was removed as it was so dingy. As the moulding is foam sandwich, it remains well insulated and there is not a problem with condensation. This work also revealed the very high quality of the original moulding and lamination. Extra storage area in galley, as well as useful fiddle rails to the work surfaces. Total length of the galley is over 6ft. Chart table with storage under. Origo 2 burner spirit cooker. Pumped cold water to galley and toilet sinks. Small hanging locker in the heads compartment. Full black out blinds for all windows and hatches, fixed with s/s poppers. ELECTRONICS Raymarine ST2000+ Autohelm. Tacktick mn100 wireless speed and depth. Garmin Map 551 GPS plotter. Icom IC-M411 VHF radio, with a new masthead ariel. COMMENTS I looked at both aft cabin and aft cockpit Corsair 31s, and thought the aft cockpit was far superior. The saloon area is much more spacious, probably 2ft longer. The heads area has a proper wooden door, and is completely seperate from the forecabin, and does not obstruct access to the forecabin. The number of usable berths is the same. With the improvements detailed above, this is a really comfortable boat to cruise in comparison with other trailer sailors and legally trailable trimarans. The cockpit is bigger and easier to work. Access to the outboard is so much better, and you can get out of the dinghy straight into the rear of the cockpit. BUILD I was keen to get a Corsair F31 built by OSTAC in Australia, having read the comments by Iain Farrier that OSTAC boats were well built and reasonably down to weight, while some early American built boats were significantly heavier. In fact, he subsequently persuaded the director of OSTAC to move and run Corsair in America. I was also keen to get a boat with the original rudder design, as it is much less prone to ventilation at high speeds, as it is set under the hull, so the hull acts as a good end plate. I've fitted a 4:1 Dyneema rudder downhaul, which largely solves the problems of water spouting up which some people have described with this rudder. In contrast, a lot of owners of later boats with transom hung rudders describe difficulties with the rudder ventilating at speed. THE CORSAIR F31 Still in production, slightly stretched and now known as the Corsair 970. Iain Farrier got so many things right. The floats are just in the water at rest, so she doesn't flop from one side to the other, and so is very comfortable at anchor. Equally, they have quite a lot of rocker, and a V shaped bottom, so the windward float comes free of the water as soon as you are sailing, increasing light wind performance and tacking. The floats have most of their buoyancy forward. This eliminates any tendency to nose dive when sailing down wind fast. Also, as the floats have less buoyancy and are V shaped in cross section at the back, they do not allow the rear of the main hull to lift out of the water when it is windy. This is vital for saftey in a cruiser racer with a single rudder on the main hull. The rudder has to stay fully in the water for control. Reading the reviews of the new Dragonfly 36, it looks like they have got there now! Farrier was so advanced in his thinking. DOCUMENTS. Original sale receipts and evidence of VAT paid on import. All subsequent bills of sale. TRAILER EXTRA SBS 4 Wheel galvanised trailer available if required for 2000 pounds if purchased with the boat. New Dyneema winch line 2024. This includes 4 acro props with pads to lift the boat, so the trailer can be removed for antifouling. Also rear mast support, jinny pole and extra lower shrouds to stabilise the mast while lowering or raising. The trailer had a service and new s/s break cables in 2022 prior to my purchase. I have washed and removed the cables and brakes and they are stored in a dry shed if required for road use.
