Description
Built and fitted out by renowned narrowboat builder Barry Cousins in February 2008, with steelwork by Colecraft Engineering, Phoenix is a well-specified, characterful traditional narrowboat — equally suited to liveaboard life or extended cruising. At 19.10 metres with a 600mm draft, she sits on a robust mild steel hull built to 43A British Standard — 10mm baseplate, 6mm hull sides, 4mm cabin — protected by four magnesium anodes. Her Beta 1903 four-cylinder engine (43bhp) paired with a PRM 150D3 gearbox provides reliable, well-proven propulsion, backed by a 145-litre diesel tank. Layout — Bow to Stern Step aboard through the bow doors into a warm, inviting saloon with a daybed/sofa and the recently installed Hamlet multifuel stove set against a tiled surround. Moving aft, the well-equipped galley runs along both sides with generous counter space, fitted cabinets, and a roof skylight flooding the area with natural light. Beyond the galley sits a custom-built solid wood dinette with ample storage — a proper place to eat, read, or work. A corridor leads to the bathroom, followed by the private double cabin, engine room, and stern doors opening onto the tiller deck. Sleeping & Storage The stern cabin offers a comfortable double bed with large underbed storage, a full-size wardrobe, and an additional shelved closet. Two wall-mounted reading lights and porthole windows give the cabin a calm, private feel. Bathroom A well-appointed separate bathroom with fully tiled shower cubicle, WC, washbasin, round mirror, and heated towel rail. Hot water via calorifier; San Marine pump-out WC. Galley Vanette GG7000 oven, Vanette 4000/2 hob, Fridgemaster MTRL130 240V refrigerator, and LPG provision for 2 x 13kg butane cylinders in the foredeck gas locker. Power & Energy Exceptionally well set up for off-grid living. Two high-performance bifacial solar panels deliver 800W of charging capacity, feeding three new EXV115C Enduroline calcium leisure batteries alongside twin 70-amp alternators and a Victron Phoenix 2500/120 inverter-charger. Shore power (landline) connection also fitted. Heating Recently installed Hamlet multifuel stove in the saloon, plus Hurricane diesel central heating throughout — Phoenix is genuinely comfortable year-round. Current BSS certificate valid until June 2028 Blackened summer 2025. Fully surveyed October 2020. No issues.
