UK: Serendipity 50ft Narrowboat

Description

Serendipity is a 50ft, off-grid-ready narrowboat built in 2006 by Liverpool Boats. We’ve lived on board for five years, both as continuous cruisers and most recently with a mooring in East London. (Please note that this listing is for the boat alone, and that the mooring is not included.) We’ve loved turning this special boat into our home but it’s time for us to move back onto land, so we’re now looking for Serendipity’s next owner! Serendipity is the perfect size for London cruising: big enough for two people to live comfortably but nimble enough to turn without a winding hole, with a cruiser stern for easy and fun moves! Our boat has been well looked after over the years and has no overplating. During the time we’ve lived onboard, we’ve fully refurbished the interior to make best use of the space, and made upgrades for more comfortable off-grid living. Serendipity is now completely ready for the next owner to move onto and enjoy. Features/recent works include: - Isuzu 35 engine, regularly serviced with new alternator fitted in 2023. In the same year, the fuel tank was emptied and cleaned with filters changed to remove all traces of diesel bug. - Most recent blacking was carried out professionally in 2024 with 2 coats of premium epoxy (3 on the waterline). - We added an extra solar panel to roof in 2021 and we now have 2x250w solar panels on tilting brackets to maximise solar gain. - We upgraded the batteries from lead acids to a lithium battery (280ah Fogstar Drift) in 2024. The power setup now includes Victron bluetooth charge controllers, Victron SmartSolar 100/30 solar charger, a 1500w pure sine wave inverter, Sterling Power Saturn BB1270 battery-to-battery charger (NOT HYBRID) and shore power battery charging via a 30amp Victron Bluesmart batter charger. With this setup, we have sufficient solar to power off-grid living without charging from the engine for 9 months of the year (a game changer!) - Morco D61B gas boiler for instant hot water. - Caprice 2040 oven and grill with 4 working hobs (an excellent boat oven that gets hot enough for cakes and bread!) - Morso Squirrel stove purchased in 2021 and installed by Ship Shape Stoves. - Full external repaint completed in 2005 with 6 coats of Craftmaster paint - 2 primers, 2 undercoats and 2 topcoats. During painting, 4 windows were removed and re-sealed to safeguard from leaks. - Bespoke birch ply kitchen installed with oak worktop and Belfast sink. - Energy-efficient Swan 12v fridge installed in 2024. - New bamboo floor fitted throughout the front room and kitchen. - Rubber floor fitted in the bathroom. - Bathroom refitted with custom birch ply units, Burlington sink and Simploo composting toilet with carbon filter (built in). - Oak floor fitted in the bedroom. - Full redesign and re-fit of the bedroom with bespoke storage solutions including a full-height wardrobe and ample under-bed storage space. - Small double bed with a Simba mattress. - Full internal repaint (Farrow and Ball / Lick). - Cork wall covering in the living room and bedroom for heat and sound insulation. - New CO and smoke alarms fitted in 2024. - New propshaft and vetus stern gland seals fitted 2024 - New chimney and cowl fitted in 2025. - New water pump fitted in 2025. - Upgraded locks fitted, with keys for front and back doors. - Integral steel bow water tank (exact capacity unknown but easily lasts us two weeks with two showers daily plus washing up etc.) The last full out-of-water survey was carried out in June 2021 with the hull in great condition and no overplating required. BSS was last carried out in September 2024 and is next due October 2028. Cruising gear includes: - All ropes - 2x windlasses - 8x pegs and hammer - Galvanic isolator - 2x shoreline cables - Bargepole - Lilac 1-person kayak (if desired!) We’re happy to answer any questions you might have about the boat or living aboard in London. Serendipity is available for viewings in Kingsland Basin - please get in touch to arrange. Thank you for your interest!
