Le Blaireau is a charming 55’ traditional stern narrowboat, built by Bridgewater Boats in 1997. She was blacked in May 2024, as well as repainting the roof, hatch doors and gas locker, with the overall paintwork remaining in reasonable condition. She is fitted out in light painted ply with sapele trim throughout, with carpet to the hull sides. The flooring is carpet in the bathroom and aft cabin, with vinyl elsewhere. The cratch covered well deck is large at 7’4” with a freestanding storage box at the front. There is room for a table and chairs if required, and the stainless steel water tank is housed below. Steps lead down, through glazed stable doors, into the 6’9” galley. Here is a Stoves 500DIT oven, grill & 4 burner gas hob, Indesit washer/dryer, 12v Shoreline fridge with icebox, stainless steel sink, and a range of cupboards for storage. Next is the 10’4” saloon, with a Morso Squirrel solid fuel stove, 2 seat sofa, freestanding storage and a folding table. There is room to replace the sofa with a sofa bed if required. The 9’4” bedroom follows with a fixed 6’3” x 4’0” double berth, with a cupboard and shelf over, and drawers under. A very large walk in wardrobe sits at the head end of the bed, which could be used for additional utilities if required. A corridor leads aft, accessing the 7’0” bathroom. There is a bath with shower over and curtain across, ceramic wash basin with cupboard below, and a Thetford cassette toilet. The aft cabin fits in an airing cupboard and a couple of additional cupboards for storage, before stepping into the 5’0” engine room. The Beta 43 engine is housed below, which has been serviced annually, most recently in January 2026. Steps lead out onto the trad stern deck. She is centrally heated by a Webasto ThermoTop Evo diesel fired system (new March 2025 with warranty) connected to 3 radiators, and hot water is supplied by the Webasto, engine and an immersion. 12v power is supplied by 6x 105ah domestics, with a separate starter. 240v power is via a Victron Multiplus 3kva inverter/charge, Elextrolux travelpower generator, or landline hookup with a galvanic isolator. An Adverc battery management system is also installed. Lighting on board is a mix of LED and halogen. Le Blaireau is French for The Badger, and will be as equally at home cruising the English countryside.
